GRE is a Graduate Record Examination test that is conducted for the students who want to study a graduate degree. Many U.S. universities require GRE scores of the student to permit them to study. Different skills of the students are measured such as quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning, critical thinking and analytical thinking. The test was developed by the Educational Testing Center and a student can secure admission for any master’s or doctoral degree. The student should be a graduate to appear for the exam. About GRE test
It is a computer-based test that is administered by Prometric testing centers. The score of the test is valid for 5 years and is conducted three times a year in the month of October, November and February. The computer- based test is conducted many times a year. Although the fees for appearing this test are higher, they provide financial assistance to the students who prove that they belong to low income group. The time allocated to complete the test is 3 hours and 45 minutes. The first section is the analytical section that comprises two tasks that involve time issue and argumentative tasks. Then the student should attempt two verbal reasoning sections, then two quantitative questions. The quantitative reasoning section comprises a research question. The student should complete the issue task in 30 minutes and choose any one topic for essay. Similarly, the argument and experimental section also should be solved within 30 minutes.
About GRE syllabus and coaching
A student should undergo some coaching to pass the GRE examination because they should study several sections and also prove their knowledge in their related subject. The GRE syllabus differs for every test. But every student should prepare for the quantitative aptitude, reasoning, verbal reasoning and analytical reasoning. The students who have chosen major subjects of mathematics, biology, and physics, and chemistry, literature in English and psychology in their undergraduate degree course can apply for GRE.
