With the advent of globalization, pornography has become a social threat. It is so because nowadays internet services are available even in the remotest corners of the world. This, in turn, has increased the availability of pornographic contents among both the genders of the society. According to modern day experts, pornography is prevalent in women too. Many also agree to the fact that women develop the habit towards pornography as an effort to increase their sex appeal. It is also widely observed that a growing number of women want to get rid of the habit of pornography. Just like men, it is also entirely reasonable for a lady to fall prey to porn addiction. Hence, in today’s society, porn addiction is quite average among both men and women. A woman who is addicted to porn would usually feel mentally tormented as long as they do not get their daily dose of porn contents. Many clinical psychologists have agreed to the fact that many women are trying to stop their porn addiction by taking regular counseling sessions from them.
Recent trends suggest that women are addicted to porn too
According to recent research, about 49 percent of adult females have submitted that exposure to pornographic content is a normal way of expressing one’s sexual desires. It is important to note that mere exposure to pornographic content would not make these women get addicted to porn. However, over a regular period, it is entirely reasonable for them to get addicted to the harmful effects of pornography. Like many other addictions, pornography also disables the common driving factors of a woman like a self-learning and self-addiction. Hence, it is quite evident that women are increasingly getting addicted to porn. There are instances where women trying to stop their porn addiction have resorted to counseling sessions. As a source of entertainment they start to view porn, and in their complete ignorance, it starts to build up in their mind as a serious addiction.
The future scope of this problem
Things look gloomy at this moment in the perspective of porn addiction. Unlike men, women are always hesitant to share their problems with their loved ones. Hence, it is quite evident that as long as women do not communicate their problems to their friends or family members, they cannot get rid of this deadly disease. On the other hand, in many developing countries, due to cultural illiteracy, women do not enjoy the same status as like of men. In those societies, if a woman admits that she has developed addiction towards porn, then the results would be catastrophic for her. Hence, they like to stay silent on this matter.
In recent years, like men, women have also developed addiction towards porn. It can be a means for expressing their sexuality and sexual desires. On the other hand, this addiction can become a grave problem for them because porn addiction lowers the social well-being and work productivity of an individual. However, timely intervention can always prove to be helpful.
